I have to add to what my new friend Mike, The Scamp, said the other day (below)

Saturday, I drove about an hour to the little town of Danville Indiana.

As I drove into the cheery little town, a billboard beckoned me "Lawson's
Enterprises" (or something like that). When I got to the courthouse I knew I
was about there. I pulled into a parking space, got out and looked up and saw
the sign across the street "Mayberry Café", with an authentic squad car parked
out front. Yes, I was home!

As I approached the street to cross, a small gathering came together in front
of the Café. it was unmistakable! Goober, Briscoe Darling, and Mayor Pike.. I
was "home" with friends from my favorite town.. I couldn't wait to get across
the street and shake their hands..but I had to. The sign Said WAIT, and it was
a busy street. I would have gotten more that my foot ran over, like Barney.
After what seemed a very long wait, I finally crossed and met the beloved
townsfolk.

We went upstairs, there was another small gathering of Mayberry townsfolk, some
from as far away as the next states, Illinois and Ohio.
There were some couples who had been to Mayberry days, Some who had
been on the Mayberry cruise, some families who had Mayberry rooms in their
house with wonderful collections of memorabilia. What great stories were
shared. We even had a young Jim Lindsey, who played Jim's audition song for us
on his guitar. That boy is good..where was the Shoe Salesman when we needed
him? That was Danna from Indiana's boy.

Oh and the food. It was Goood!. Briscoe even peeped in the kitchen
and said things looked good. Briscoe's darling person Pat, she was so
gracious, organizing it all. I think she was surprised I showed up as a real
person. She thought "the Untrained Voice " was kind of a figment. or maybe a
spirit like the Count, or just some Hands on a keyboard, I'm not sure.
We took pictures, got autographs, did I mention the food was good?
Mayor Pike made a little speech,,and so did Goober.

>>>I just got home from the Mayberry Cafe in Danville Indiana, and all I can
>>>say thanks to the Mayberry Cafe for having us. Thanks also Tim, Eric, and
>>>Bob, AKA Goober, Mayor Pike, and Briscoe, and to all the fans that were
>>>there . I was so thrilled to meet Joe... See ya in New Castle. Merry
>>>Christmas to all. Mike "The Scamp" Haviland<<<

It was a great time, and most of all, great people. Thanks Mike, you've
forgotten more trivia than I've ever memorized.
