Barry Blitzer, a veteran TV writer who shared an Emmy Award in 1956 for his work on "The Phil Silvers Show" and whose credits include episodes of "McHale's Navy," "Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.," "Get Smart" and the Hanna- Barbera cartoons "The Flintstones" and "The Jetsons," died Jan. 27 at St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica of complications from abdominal surgery, the Writers Guild of America announced. He was 80. Mr. Blitzer wrote TAGS' "A New Doctor in Town," and was a staff writer on USMC in 1967 and 1968.
