There was Making Keys Out Of Iron kits, Mr. Potato Head, Painting With Tiles kits, things like that. I was a whiz with Mr. Potato Head, but you had to use real potatoes back then so my folks wouldn't let me keep a masterpiece on the mantle in the living room since it got gamy after a few days.
