Ken, You brought up some good questions that we may never know the answer to.
Whenever my friends ask me questions like this about TAGS, I have a pretty
stock answer. Almost 50 years ago when these folks got together to make The
Andy Griffith Show, they had no idea that 50 years later folks would still be
watching it and noticing the inconsistencies. I attended a Mayberry event in
Roanoke VA several years ago that included a question and answer period with
some of the alumni (Goober, Thelma Lou, Charleen, Jim Lindsey and a few
others). George Lindsey was asked what it was like working on a "classic" TV
show. His response caught some off guard. He said that at the time they had
no idea they were working on a "classic" show. He was just glad to have a job
and be earning a paycheck.
Like many of our fellow TAGS fans, after watching my favorite show since it
originally aired on Monday nights, I had lost the perspective that TAGS was not
seen by everyone as I saw it, always great and always "classic". There just no
accounting for taste.
Hope I didn't make too big of a mulage out of this and also hope I wasn't
obtuse. My wife hates it when I get obtuse.

P.S. Welcome to all of the new digest members.
