Now Ken,  I'm sure they grow some fine cucumbers in our neighboring state of
North Carolina, but my granddaddy, a farmer all of his 83 years, could grow
every vegatable imaginable at his farm in Bonsack, VA.  Afterwards, my
grandmother would can everything grown at the big fireplace out behind the
house.  We never ate fruit, vegatables, juice or pickles from the store.  My
grandmother put up dill, sweet and bread and butter pickles that I believe
could have beaten Clara's blue ribbon winners.  I know grandma's had Aunt Bee's
pickles beat because they wouldn't kill flies and you didn't have to wash your
hands after eating them.

P.S.  Grandma even made pickled watermelon rind that was right tasty.
