I grew up in Southern VA and was raised putting salt on watermelon. It wasn't 
until years later, when I became a Yankee, that I noticed people putting sugar 
on it instead. Just like the sugar they put in cornbread - yuk!

I still use salt on watermelon and do not like supersweet cornbread!

However, I do like to hold the kerosene in my pickles!
