As a bow tie aficionado, my vote is that those used on camera were pre-tied. Bow ties have their own individual personalities and do not like to stay still for very long. And they have this propensity for looking different every time you tie it. The fact that their bow ties always looked the same plus I never saw one of their bow ties askew or with one end loose calls for them being pre-tied.
