Am I the only person who mulls over TAGS in their mind as they go about their
busy day? The other day I got to thinking about how the show would have been
different if instead of trying to cover up Floyd's handicap when he returned to
the show, if they had just acknowledged it and dealt with it. Warren's mother,
being Floyd's sister, could have moved to Mayberry to live with and assist
Floyd. Floyd would have had to hire someone else to cut hair, but he still
could have managed the shop and hung around the shop, and the bench out front.
I think that would have made a better statement to handicapped people
everywhere, but in those days, the handicapped were more hidden than they are
today. I mean, it isn't like everyone did not know Floyd was handicapped, the
producers of the show were not fooling anyone.
Orville Hendricks - Selling Butter and Eggs. I always tell Martha that we can
start parking in the handicapped parking spots as soon as they start to count
mental handicaps. (No offense to anyone).
