>>>Question: When Malcolm Tucker wanted to use the phone and the Mendlebright sisters were on it all afternoon, why didn't Andy just take him to the courthouse or to someone else's house to use a phone? Certainly the entire town of Mayberry wasn't on the same party line. I thought of that while soaking in a bubble bath the other night.
Kenneth G. Anderson<<< Ken Here is my take on this, based on a limeted knowledge of old Phone Networks. There apparently was just one Long distance path out of Mayberry..ond one of the sisters lived a distance away. So Sara could plug in cords for simultaneous local calls, but only one Long distance call could be going on at a time. Now the fallacy of that, which I'm sure some woud point out, would be why do you hear them like you do on a party line?? ..so maybe thats not it, buts its my most plausible. The other possibily is it could be that Sara takes Sundays off, and just plugs all the cords in together so the entire town is effectively one party line..and everyone understands to just stay off while the sisters talk? it just one of those wonderful mysteries..but with today's technology Cora just texted me the following about feet falling asleep: "Usually, you feel this familiar sensation after you've been putting pressure on part of youÂr body -- sitting on a foot, sleeping on an arm, etc. When you apply this pressure for a prolonged period of time, you actually cut off communication from your brain to parts of your body. The pressure squeezes nerve pathways so that the nerves can't transmit electrochemical impulses properly. Nerve impulses carry sensation information from nerve endings in the body to the brain, as well as instructions from the brain to the parts of the body. When you interfere with this transfer by squeezing the nerve pathways, you don't have full feeling in that body part, and your brain has trouble telling the body part what to do." old ladies testing...I wonder what causes that?
