>I wonder who was living the old 1960s era Taylor home in 1986? It wasn't Opie,

I agree Dixon - I watched it on my new DVD and loved every minute of it even
more than when I watched when it ran the first time. As big of a fan as I was
when the show originally aired and thru all the years of WTBS's reruns, it
wasn't until the online site and the Digest and Mayberry Days that I've become
a certifiable, officially verified, hick trouble maker Mayberry "nut".

The first thing you notice about Opie's house is the dirt driveway along side
the same side the driveway is for the Taylor's house in the show. And the
porch, same type of design. I've heard and I believe it that the house Opie and
his wife and new son live in is the outdoor set house for The Waltons. Not sure
about the inside - like you said we don't get invited in - but the porch is
definitely the Walton's front porch. The scene I got a kick out of is when Andy
and Barney are sitting on the porch and talking. Barney gets up to leave, they
take a few steps and Andy asks him about Thelma Lou. He casually starts talking
about her and they both gingerly stroll back to the porch, sit down and
continue chatting as if he wasnt' going to leave at all. It's touching, it's so
them and it's just perfect for us!!!!

I love my 50th Anniversary DVD and I hope everyone gets their copy too. I love
the intros for the seasons. I caught Lucille Ball stifling a laugh when Andy
Griffith is talking to Don Knotts. I noticed at the end when the credits ran
that Karen Knotts had a part. I had to rerun and watch for her.....Opie's
receptionist. Great!!! I wonder why she never had a part in any of the
episodes. She and Ron Howard are the same age (within a year I think) and she
mentioned at Mayberry Days that she spent alot of time on the set. She could
have in fact been one of Opie's girlfriends. Oh, the possiblities....

old wives tale"...."Johnny Paul ain't married"........
