Seems as though most of my childhood fun occured outside with mother nature.
Anyone else remember the following?

*stomping your shoes into empty oil cans and then trying to walk without falling
*climbing a small sapling tree and riding it to the ground
*catching fireflies and putting them in a clear container for observation
*climbing sawdust piles...my father warned me about possible suffocation, but
still did it
*does anyone remember "doodle bugging"
*tying a string to a june bug's leg and watch it disappear in flight
*catching fire 'possums in a ditchbank after a rain
*walking barefoot in mud puddles and hearing your mama yell..."get 'outa there
before you get the seven year itch"
*putting a blade of grass between your outstretched thumbs and blowing on it to
produce a shrill sound
*making your own kite from newspaper and dog fennels...your mom's old stockings
made the best kite tail
*making corncob pipes
*two tin cans with a string attached made a mighty fine telephone
*walking barefoot through a freshly plowed field hunting for arrowheads
*jumping from a barn loft with your parent's umbrella(parachute):two things
were torn up...the umbrella and your butt
*making a bow and arrow set
*the "lucky ball" in a penny gumball machine...the lucky ball was redeemable
for five cents in merchandise
*and lastly...snipe hunting

Do these ramblings evoke fond memories from anyone else?
