I know it might be a technicality, but there are an awful lot of Mayberry alums in Gomer Pyle, USMC. Jim Nabors, Frank Sutton, Alan Melvin, Ronnie Schell, William Christopher to just name a few. For some reason, whenever I think of Ronnie Schell, I remember seeing him doing a stand up routine on TV in the '60's. It may have been on The Tonight Show. The one part I've always remembered was when he talked about his career. He said, "You may remember me, for a couple of years I was Duke on the Gomer Pyle Show. Then, last year, I got my own sit-com, Good Morning World where I played part of a deejay team. This year, I'm Duke on the Gomer Pyle Show." I guess you had to be there.
