Someone wrote to me today to see if I had any information on Andy Griffith's autobiography, which we have been awaiting for some time. I thought I'd share with the rest of you what I told her. His book, "I Appreciate It," is listed on Buy.com as a pre-order with a release date of Feb. 28, 2012. I found that it is also listed on Walmart's and Books A Million's websites with the same release date. Hopefully, it will actually be available for purchase at that time, but it's already been postponed once or twice, so we'll just have to wait and see. I came across a Mayberry forum where the book was being discussed, and some speculated that Don Knotts' death may have led Andy to do some rewriting. Someone also thought his present health may prevent him from promoting the book, so he may be delaying it until he is better able to do that. Of course, these are probably only guesses on their part. It seems that no one is giving an official explanation for the delay. If anyone else has more concrete information, please share it. I know Jim Clark, our "Head Goober," co-wrote the book with Andy, but, to my knowledge, he hasn't made any public comment about why the book is not yet released. I'm certainly anxious to get my hands on it and give it a good read!
