The preacher on Little House was played by Dabbs Greer who played Naylor, the male half of fueding couple Maudie and Naylor from the episode where Andy took a vacation.

Like Virgil,he wasn't too self assured about much of anything,but give him a 'whittlin knife and a piece of wood and voila,a piece of art has been created.The young man was Dirk Blocker,son of Dan Blocker, aka "Hoss" Cartwright of Bonanza.
