I have posted a number of times regarding all the similarities between TAGS and the Old Time Radio program "The Great Gildersleeves". I recently began watching the old Great Gildersleeves TV episodes and found a Mayberry connection there. In the Great Gildersleeves Mr. Peevey is played by Forrresst Lewis. Forrrest Lewis also played the role of Mr. Mundt on TAGS. Mr. Mundt drove the old black convertible and he also came in to the courthouse to pay a parking ticket while Uncle Ollie was there.
I did a Mayberry presentation today back at a former church of mine where I was a member back in 1967. It was just great talking with folks about things that happened all those years ago. The town was a dry community, just like Mayberry, up to just two years ago. The folks really enjoyed the clip of Aunt Bee and the church group enjoying the Indian Elixir. There were even some folks there that were related to an old school friend of mine from back home.
