Well folks, I no sooner sent a message to the Digest about Mr. Peevey on the TV version of The Great Gildersleeves being played by Forrest Mundt from TAGS when I made another discovery. I watched another episode of the Great Gildersleeve TV program right after I sent my post and I discovered our own Hal Smith ( Otis Campbell ) playing the part of Floyd the barber.
