While I was watching Turner Classic Movies this weekend, I happened to catch
"The Naked City". No, this is not a porno flick. It is a movie about New
York City that was later made into a very good television show. At any rate,
there was this police officer looking out his window at the children playing in
the street a couple of stories below. There were several girls jumping rope,
and you could hear what they were saying. And wouldn't you know it, they
began to say "Call for the doctor, call for the nurse, call for the lady with
the alligator purse". I looked real close, but I did not see Barney or Otis
anywhere around there.
Orville Hendricks - The Butter and Egg Man From Mount Pilot. When I was
growing up the only boys who jumped rope were the really tough one that were
training to be fighters. Because if any of the other guys caught you jumping
rope, then it was time to be a fighter.
