Listening again to "The Great Gildersleeves" on Old Time Radio, I heard three Mayberry quotes last night.
Mr Peevey said, "Everybody talks about the weather but nobody does anything about it." ( spoken by Floyd ) Gildersleeves said, "There are none so blind as those who do not see." ( spoken by Colonel Harvey ) Leroy said. " Shoot the jam." ( a slight variation of Opie's "Shoot the sugar". ) I am just amazed as to how many similar things there are between the Great Gildersleeves and Mayberry. Makes me wonder if it is just coincidence or if somehow a writer had a connection to both programs. Maybe Summerfield has a Mr. Schwamp too, but we will never no without any visualization. -- Ken Anderson The Mayberry Guru 2906 May Street Eau Claire, Wisconsin 54701 www.mayberryreflections.com _______________________________________________ WBMUTBB mailing list [email protected] http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
