Probably Opie had to wear the same shirt all the time because seeing he had no older siblings he wouldn't have any hand me downs to wear. Personally I hated wearing hand me downs. The kids always knew when I was wearing them because my sister's skirts only came down to the top of my knees. Sure wish I would have had older brothers.
