I think it would be great if universal studios could work something out and build mayberry with plenty of porch sitting and touring the buildings as they wpuld have been decorated for the sets. If you could stay at the hotels it wpuld be booked up like cinderella's castle. I watched the utube clip about the vigilante force. While it was sad to see them in bad shape and watch a good many destroyed, it really should have been done sooner if they weren't going to be used like what michael landon did with walnut grove. Butt it wasn't too many years later uniiversal began doing the studio tours. And warner brothers did too. On 2 and 1/2 men there was a great shot of the bewitched house. And tool time blew up the stevens's house. And that house has a much more detailed interior and exterior. It is fun to look at the sets remembering our favorite show. They may have changed the rules now but that was in the 90s. I had a job offer there to teach in the mid 90s. And since i was in graduate school and working security i decided not to move. Plus the humidity in florida is awful and i can't take it for more than a few days.
