Hello All!
In a strange bit of fate, after attending my first Mayberry Days this past
weekend, on my first day back at work at the Raleigh-Durham Airport where I
work as the archivist, I had a Mayberry connection that deserves mention.
Currently I am arranging and describing a large selection of slides chronocling
the airport's history. Included in one batch of slides from some sort of
employee celebratory event (a buffet style meal) there is one picture of David
Browning dressed as Barney Fife standing with a couple airport employees. I
have no idea when the picture was taken, although judging from the other slides
in the box and the clothing style represented I'm assuming it was in the mid
'90s - 2000 range. Does anyone, Mr. Browning in particular, have any
information about this event, in terms of the date and/or what the event was in
recognition of?
One a totally different note - I recently was introduced by my grandfather to
one of golfing friends - a Mr. Pete Floyd. As soon as he said his name a bell
went off in my head...why did I recognize that name? I just couldn't place it
but "Pete Floyd" sounded sooo familiar. Then it hit me! It was a Barney Fife
line that I was remembering -"Oh for the love of Pete, Floyd!"
Best,
Kim McCray
