We visited a battle ship in North Carolina several years ago. It's a museum now. It was fascinating. When I made the comment to one of out elders in the group we were taveling with, about the average age of a kid on one of these boats was 19, he quickly replied, " No there were guys as young as 16. Many boys lied about heir age to join the military back then."
