I'm not rightly sure when the Taylors first got a TV, however, when Gomer came
to stay as houseguest, it is possible that they were not watching TV at all,
but listening to a radio show. The program has an announcer, and at the end
he says something like, "tune in next week for another exciting episode in The
Lives of Shep and Ralph, a Boy and His Dog," which sounds to me more like
something one would hear on the radio. If you watch the scene in question, we
do not see an actual television, all we see is one edge and the top of a
squarish wooden cabinet. Might have been a TV, might have been a radio, might
have been both.
