Actually, it was Big Jack Anderson, not Big Ben Anderson from the "Haunted
House" episode. Other moonshiners are Ben Sewell (who must have been Rafe
Hollister's long lost twin brother....), Rube Sloan ("Alcohol & Old Lace"), Les
Peterson, Frank Watkins, & Joe
Richards (all 3 Rube Sloan mentioned in "Alcohol & Old Lace"), Sam Muggins
("Christmas Story"), the four Gordon brothers Billy, Ike, Sherman and Junior
("Aunt Bee the Warden") and Jess Morgan ("Andy and the New Mayor"). One could
argue that Ben Weaver is also a
moonshiner since he sells "spirits" in his store, though I doubt he makes it
himself ("Christmas Story"). Of course, Briscoe Darling gets guitar and banjo
sounds out of his moonshine jug, but we're never told whether he makes it
himself or not. In "The Darling
Baby" the Darling boys brought some Mulberry squeezin's to the betrothal
signing ceremony with Andy and Opie, so we can assume they made that which is a
form of moonshine anyway.
