Regarding all the recent posts about the sorry state of television these days,
I think the people who put shows on the air have forgotten one very important
thing. When most people view a television show, they think of it as if they
are inviting those people into their home. They are asking them to come in,
sit down in their living room and converse with their family, including their
very young children. When we used to invite Aunt Bee, Opie, Andy, and Barney
into our home we looked forward to the visit each and every Monday night. We
had nothing to fear as to language, dress, decorum, or actions. Now a days,
with about 90% of the people on television, if they were to show up at my front
door, I would double lock the deadbolt, turn off the lights and pretend I was
not at home. And these big shot Hollywood producers expect us to invite
this bunch into our living room. Not in my
