Yes, those were the coils on top of the reefer. We had one of that type  
when I was growing up and the coils had to be replaced one time and it was so  
simple. They simply lifted off the old ones, unplugged them, plugged in the 
new  ones and set them in place! The next time they went shot, Mama got a 
new one  with the coils underneath and a freezer compartment, not just 
something big  enough to hold a couple ice trays!!
And on that subject, all of you...get a long, skinny brush and clean your  
coils or get a vacuum attachment to do the job. It will save you money by 
saving  your refrigerator! Clean them at least annually!!
