I have always wondered about the back door, too. In "Mr McBeevee" when Opie says his horse "Blackie" is tied out back, there are a set of steps at the back door. Later, when Aunt Bee has a freezer full of meat (Call the man!), there is a back porch. Is the porch supposed to be at the back of the house? Later, when they moved the kitchen door in the color shows, I never knew why they would do that, as far as consistency in the show.
