Of course, the answer to the trivia question was Dennis Weaver.
Here is what's so strange about Don Knotts and Dennis Weaver. Both were born
a month apart in 1924. Both were born in the Midwest, Don Knotts in West
Virginia and Dennis Weaver in Missouri. Both served in World War II. Both
graduated from college, Don Knotts from West Virginia and Dennis Weaver from
University of Oklahoma. (West Virginia and Oklahoma are both now part of the
Big XII Conference). Both played in movies, but found their greatest fame in
television. Both were co-stars in a show that was #1 in the Neilson ratings.
Both died on the exact same day, February 24, 2006. But here is one more
coincidence, if you were playing Family Feud, and the emcee asked you the
question "Name a television deputy sheriff", the top two answers on the board
would be "Barney Fife" and "Chester Goode". Amazing.
