This morning (Sunday), Turner Classic Movies showed a movie from 1959 called
"The Journey". And there was little Opie playing the part of a small boy
(talk about typecasting). I have seen at least 2 sources (Leonard Maltin and
USA Today) who say that this was the film debut of Ronny Howard (that was how
he was listed in the credits). IMDB says he was in a movie called "Frontier
Woman" with his father, Rance, in 1956. If that is true, he could only have
been 1 or 2 at that time. IMDB shows him in the cast as uncredited, so who
knows?
Also, playing a part in The Journey as Opie's brother, was Flip Mark. Flip
Mark was also a TAGS alumni, he played the leader of the Wildcats when Opie was
"Keeper Of The Flame".
