While I was taking care of all my chores this morning, my mind was straying to
thoughts of Andy Griffin. Part of what brought this to mind was the death
this week of another famous comedian. In order to avoid hurting feelings, I
will not name this other comedian, only call him Mr. X. Andy's life, and Mr.
X's life were closely paralleled. Both came to fame on the basis of starring
in a hit television situation comedy. Then they went on to make movies, and
to have at least one other situation comedy that did not do as well as their
first one.

The difference between Andy and Mr. X was that by all accounts Andy was a
religious, contented man who lived his life to the fullest until he was called
home. Mr. X by all accounts was a lot less happy who finally grew tired of
living altogether. I was thinking of what made the difference, and I believe
you can see it in their shows. Andy was not ashamed of his Lord and Savior.
Andy was depicted attended church many times in his show, and singing many,
many, hymns. Mr. X's show was decidedly secular. Never set foot in the
church, and of course never sang any hymns.

I am one, one among millions, who believes if a person will acknowledge his
Lord, his Lord will bring peace into your life. This is a really simple
concept, but a concept that far too many people in Hollywood now a days cannot
accept. You can count on the fingers of your hands every person in Hollywood
now a days who is not ashamed of their religion. Patrica Heaton, of "The
Middle", and Kevin Sorbo of the movie "God Is Not Dead" leap immediately to
mind. There are probably a few more.

I didn't really mean to get on my soapbox, but when someone dies prematurely,
it lays a burden on my heart.
