I find it very unusual that the small town of Mayberry would have a school swimming pool in the pre WW2 days. Up here in Wisconsin none of the schools anywhere in our area had swimming pools until well into the 1970's with most small schools still not having a pool today.<<< Ken, I agree that this would have been unusual, especially for the time. One possibility I can imagine is that Mayberry had a YMCA with a pool that the high school used for its swim team. I believe that's what our town does.
