A couple of days ago I posed a trivia question, namely, to name an instance
where someone in Mayberry used a disguise. Note that I said USED a disguise,
not WORE a disguise. There are several examples of folks who disguised their
voice, now who can come up with some?

Wearing a uniform is not a disguise, unless one is deliberately trying to
deceive someone. So, when Ralph Neal wore a Mayberry sheriff's department
uniform in an attempt to get through police roadblocks and the like, that was a
disguise. When Jerry Miller and Otis Campbell wore uniforms, those were not
disguises, because they were working as deputies. To say that Otis (in uniform)
was in disguise would be the same as saying Andy disguised himself as a lawman
every time he put on his uniform, with or without clean underwear.

Speaking of Otis, I've never understood why Barney went on and on about
"falsifying." The sheriff of Mayberry is legally authorized to swear in
deputies. Andy made Otis a deputy, presumably in exactly the same way that he
had made Barney a deputy. There was no falsification involved.
