My wide and I are celebrating our silver wedding anniversary tomorrow and Ethel Pendleton told me that my wife wants a fur coat like the one Emmett got for Martha Clark. I considered telling my wife that Andy and the fellas are going bowling with me in Mt. Pilot, but I am concerned my wife might see me leaving with Flora. Considering Andy got caught lying about being sick and eventually blabbed to Martha about the coat after she saw Emmett and Flora leaving for Mt. Pilot, I don't want to tell him and risk spoiling the surprise.
Does anyone know Bernie the wholesale furrier in Mt. Pilot? I hate to risk going there with Flora plus I need to check with him to see he has any more of the cheaper coats you don't really want to wear in the light. I'm not pleading poverty, but I don't make the kind of dough to go out and buy an expensive fur coat. If not, I'll just grab her a bathrobe. She'll get a lot of use out of a robe because she could wear it out in the morning when she gets the paper. If they are out of her size in the robes, I'll just have Goober put on a new set of nylon tires on her car. He keeps telling me she has an oil problem and bad tires. Other than that, there isn't anything wrong with her or Lydia Crosswaith for that matter.
