We always went to my paternal grandparents on Christmas Eve, had Christmas
morning at home as a family and spent Christmas afternoon my maternal
grandparents. They were the ones that lived in clear sight of Pilot Mountain
(I am talking about the mountain, not the town here). I could always count on
a number of constants: Mr. Goodbar, oranges, nuts, etc. We also opted for a
cedar tree instead of a pine tree.

One Christmas Eve that stood out to me was when it was so unseasonably warm
that I played basketball out in the yard in shorts and a t-shirt.
