I really enjoyed watching this classic Don Knotts film Saturday night on MeTv's "Svengoolie", including the host's many Mayberry references during the commercial breaks. I never really watched it from beginning to end before.
There were so many familiar faces, I decided to go on IMDB and research exactly how many people in the movie had appeared in TAGS. This ended up taking longer than I thought - I was really surprised at the total.. In addition to the more famous ones like Barney, Otis, Clara Edwards, "Hubcaps" Lesh, "Big Maude" Tyler, and Jud, there were *21* other actors and actresses who had credited or uncredited parts in both the movie and TAGS, for a grand total of 27 - wow. Plus, there were at least another 6 or 7 folks in the movie who, while not actually appearing in TAGS, had parts in either, or both, "Mayberry R.F.D." and "Gomer Pyle, USMC". In addition, I didn't know that Andy himself was an uncredited writer on the movie, and that longtime writer Everett Greenbaum was the guy who kept yelling "Atta boy, Luther!" throughout the movie.
