I would agree with you when it comes to large scale companies, and especially
for highly secure things like bank transactions that Java is more common. I have
a younger brother that started out as a green screen programmer, and while
installing mainframes for HSBC all over the world, they use Java. My own
personal internet banking, (ScotiaBank) runs with a .jsp extension for it's pages
and just checking a few other bank pages, they are using java as well.
I converted

LOL! That's why you don't see any people that know how to use their beans out
of work.

Nah, don't feel sorry. It's just that a good number of people on this particular list
are orientated in another direction is all. Rants like yours helps some of them
explore other aspects of computer work, and therefore may enlighten some to
the world of computers beyond the web. just lookin' for that silver lining eh...

LOL again. Of course java is better at web services. Using it for services was the
whole idea behind *7 right?

Personally, no. For what I do, a scripting language like php combined with mysql
and any soap will do. It will not do for my bro' tho' at the bank. From Cheryl's
answer:

It's that learning curve thing that scares off a lot of people eh. You gotta admit
that for "readability" and understanding the concepts, people that, (generally),
first learn html and javascript, languages like asp and php are easier to soak up.

I already have had an inquiry about running ASP on our Apache/*nix boxes a
couple weeks ago, thought it was very strange until I read this. Txs for the heads
up.
