Ok Will, I'll follow suit! Please bear with me? I won't even pull out my soapbox for this.
I live in Omaha, Nebraska, am in my 40's, married and have grandchildren. I began writing webpages about 4 years ago. I spent a year studying html, and handwriting my pages. I loved the way that it was like putting a huge jigsaw puzzle together, upside down, without a picture to reference to, in this little application called "notepad" and having it look like a web page in another application when I was done! What a challenge! I loved it. But then, I grew up putting together puzzles of all sorts. **Grin** For the last year, I've been dabbling in CSS, rewriting some of older pages, updating stuff, etc. But now I've been using Arachnophilia to edit and write my pages. I still savor the challenge at times. Back at the first of December, I changed positions/careers. I went from selling children's clothes for a large department store chain to working for a company that represents an ISP that provides Technical Support for the ISP. Of which, I won't name here, to prevent any conflict of interests. So needless to say, for the last month, I have been on an extensive learning curve. The first 2 weeks was training. Last week and this one, I've been taking "live" calls! Now that's been interesting. Trying to help a senior citizen (late 70's or early 80's?, because my grandson gave me their old pc for Christmas!) figure out how they managed to entirely screw up the settings in the Outlook Express because they were tinkering in it last night "way after their bedtime" (snicker), and then to find the "lost" email that they never deleted, has been a challenge. I actually managed to do this for a woman today! When we suceeded, she was screaming so much in glee I couldn't believe my ears! I don't think she was ever that joyful before in her life! WOW! Sheesh! Oh! And Sharon, I would have loved to been able to access that knowledge base of yours. I probably would have had a heyday in there reading that stuff! Alas, that won't happen now. Here's one tale I heard today! Another tech told me this one at dinner. He actually had a man that couldn't get his mouse to work! Come to find out he had the mouse backwards! The "tail" was extending from his fingers, and the buttons were at his wrist, plus the mouse was upside down (ball side up to the palm)! Takes all kinds out there! All those jokes I read, I never thought were based on real stories. Now I'm beginning to wonder myself and believe differently! Thanks!
