Well, I wasn't going to let it beat me... so I've been moithering at it
between other things today.... and you'll just have to imagine the
"EUREKA!" of a few minutes ago....With Netscape6.2, the lowest layer (ie
the one in the background) is visible only if it's specified as visible in
the beginning... with IE & NN4.7, the default position is *assumed* to be
visible.

So with

<div id="Layer6" style="position:absolute; width:738px; height:477px;
z-index:2; left: 42px; top: 14px; visibility: visible"><img
src="Assets/guitar-9b.gif" width="560" height="410">test
  layer </div>

we now have [dah dah]
http://www.mediation.co.uk/dev_snb/index1.html

as opposed to
http://www.mediation.co.uk/dev_snb/

which was

<div id="Layer6" style="position:absolute; width:738px; height:477px;
z-index:-1; left: 42px; top: 14px"><img src="Assets/guitar-9b.gif"
width="560" height="410"></div>

(if you're in NN6 you'll have 'now you see it, now you don't switching
between the two...)

Well, at least it's one I'm not likely to get wrong again...

OK -now that's that solved... I might allow myself an early night!

Thanks again, Cheryl!

Franni
