Eddie, 
I've played with this a bit involving a client's custom .mp3 files.  Problem is that 
MSIE 6.0 apparently has a twist to it, that if it detects an associated program (eg: 
MS Word for .doc files, Acrobat for .pdf files, etc) on the user's operating system, 
then the browser will cause that program to open and read the file.  The only way 
around this is via a right-click and 'save-as' option. 

I tried changing content[MIME] type using  .htaccess  to no avail.  If this is an 
option for you,  you might try tinkering with it and see if you can get it to work.
