If you purchase the upgrade from the same company that your purchased a *new* computer with Windows XP Home you can upgrade for $79. It is a MS promotion. Mark was asking specifically about purchasing a new PC.
If you are going to upgrade an existing machine you can't get it for that price at least not legally. However if you upgrade certain computer components at the same time such as adding a hard drive, DVD, etc. you can purchase the Windows XP full OEM version for less than the upgrade price. I've done that in the past when upgrading a system and OS at the same time. Last time I did that I think I purchased the OEM version with a new system board/cpu for a total of less than $200. Moved the computer from a K6-400 to an Athlon 1200 which was a very noticeable improvement in performance and allowed me to keep all the ram, etc. that I already had. Cheryl D.
