Hi Sherry,

>> My computer guru just installed in our the server we use. I was
dubious, but it's really worked.

Glad to hear it's worked well for you. It's saved me *so* much time
manually sorting the real mails from the spam. Setting up rules in your
mail client for common spam terms is a real poor solution compared to SA -
it isn't fooled by spammers who try to hide common spam terms.

As you might have seen, SA works on a "points" system, and runs various
tests on the message then adds up the "points" to see if it's over the
spam threshold. If it sees "mortgage" in an email for example, it might
give it 1 point - it's a common spam term but just because an email
contains the word "mortgage" isn't a definite sign that it's spam.
However, if the spammer tries to hide it (for example, a HTML email
containing "mort<!--3ddsf9-->gage", SpamAssassin still spots it, and gives
a much higher spam rating for that.

Just to show how comprehensive SA is at spotting spam, I've uploaded a
sample of the results for one spam email, at
http://www.preshweb.co.uk/satag.php for any of you that want to see how it
does it.

By the way I have no connections with SpamAssassin other than the amount
of time and frustration it's saved me!

>> PS: David, you have the neatest name.
:-) Thank you!

Dave P
