Hi Jan,
> Dave, I downloaded the spamassassin program and unzipped it. Do I have
to be a rocket scientist to install this? The instructions mention perl
a lot, and while I do have perl installed on my D drive, my main drive
is C and I'm not a perl guru in any way, shape or form. Can you help
me with this?

I'm not quite sure about how to install it on Windows - it's dead simple
to install on Linux. You *should* be able to set your mail client up
(assuming you use a reasonably capable client) to pipe all incoming mail
through spamassassin first, then add filter rules to move
aside the ones which are tagged as spam.

Perhaps an easier option might be SAProxy (SpamAssassin Proxy) - it sounds
like it should be of use to you - it's a POP3 proxy which transparently
filters the mail through SpamAssassin before it gets to your mail client.
Being a simple POP3 proxy, it ought to work with almost any mail client.
Have a look at http://saproxy.bloomba.com/ for more info - this might be
just what you need! Apparently comes with friendly installer and
configuration wizard too. I don't know if it's got the main SpamAssassin
code built-in to it or if you need to put it somewhere.

Well, hope this helps!

Let me know how you get on.

Cheers

Dave P
