Interesting, Deb.

I've seen my clients' pretty well ranked sites vanish from their positions
for days, at times too. What do you mean they won't be doing deep crawls,
though?

Best,
Mike

Hi Gill,

Without actually investigating his site, I can tell you this much. Google
just went through a very large change in how they do things. It's taken
approximately 6-8 weeks to complete, during which time pretty much all
indexing was suspended. There is talk there will be no more deep crawls
except for maybe one final one sometime after the current Google Dance. The
Google Dance began just this morning, so the server updates are ongoing
right now and take 3-5 days to complete. At this time all page ranking is
in a fluctuating stage. Until the dance is over nobody can count on their
sites ranking anywhere. Everyone is just waiting it out, many holding
their breath. My best suggestion to you is not to do anything for a week
or so, and then investigate his ranking again and go from there. The
improvements they attempted to incorporate should benefit us all, as
updating will take place more often and more regularly is my understanding.
