Jac - I was away last two days so just saw this. Might be worth adding any sites that have anything to do with Rochester (Kent UK) as they have a huge Dickens Festival every year - around May I think. Also I seem to recall hearing somewhere that Dickens lived in Dover at one stage - but not sure.
If he did, it proves that it had a hard upbringing. Strangely, I cannot find any reference to Dickens having lived in Milton Keynes, although he must have got the descriptions for debtors' prisons and Fagin's den from soemwhere.
