Perry,
  I'm on 1.5mbps DSL (at home), Win2k, 1280x1024, Mozilla 1.5b. The
pages are a bit slow to load. You might try preloading or something,
because I've got a good connection and should have any lag, IMO.
My first thought on seeing the different styles that are available is
that they would offer additional functionality as well being cosmetic.
By this I mean: people tend to find different fonts easier to read than
others, so expected that one of these styles would have a different font
or perhaps a high contrast version for those with RGB deficiency.
Yiff Weenpod is scary. In a mutant Harry Potter/Shredder from the
"Ninja Turtles" kind of way. It's an interesting piece of art, but I
don't know that I'd incorporate it into the layout. I like the other
two layout images, though it's difficult to read "The Web Initiative" in
the rocket layout. On the Yiff Weenpod layout, in Moz, the right border
of the text box sticks out past the rest of the box. I'm not terribly
fond of the beveled edges on the content areas of the pages. The
gradients on the two different parts of the top menu aren't consistent.
I understand one side should look like it has a transparent layer over
it, but shaded portions aren't consistent.
All that being said, It's obvious you've come a long way with PHP. I
bet the site is a ton easier to maintain. The blog looks pretty
functional... What are you going to do about archived entries? How
many entries will you display at once?

Anyway, I hope this helped,
Stephen

:Hey Everyone. Good morning or afternoon (as may be appropriate).
:
:I've reached a point where I feel safe to ask for a Site
:Check. The Web Initiative [ http://www.webinitiative.net ] is
:now available in versions 4.0, 4.1 and 4.2. This is my first
:full-featured PHP driven web site, and I'm quite proud of it.
:The site has three different styles to choose from,
:accomplished by passing a query string with the page URL. The
:Blog is fully dynamic - fed from a MySQL database and has what
:seems to be a standard feature on Blogger and others; a place
:for reader comments. The site content will continue to grow
:now that the framework is built, but please take a look around
:and let me know what you think.
:
:Please report back with your platform/browser/screen res./
:what ever else you think is important. If there's something
:that looks fishy please send me a screen shot if you can.
:
:Thanks,
:Perry Gerenday
