John & everyone else - thank you. I got it sorted - don't know what the
problem was last Friday, but this morning I went through the same steps
& it worked. Phew!! New client so I didn't want to look bad.

I don't think I can be too much help, but I have Eircom ISDN at home. I
have a number of e-mail addresses set up in Outlook Express and they
give me no problem sending or receiving mail. I just set the accounts up
normally and that was pretty much that. My guess would be that it's a
typo, as that's precisely what happened to me :-)

Did you try putting in the details for an account you are sure that
works to rule out ISDN problems altogether?
