We are looking at a subscription model for some features of our web site. We have the mechanism for assigning / modifying / deleting user ID and passwords... but looking for an automated method for creating and maintaining user accounts.
I've seen sites with sign-in pages where the user creates an account, then a password is mailed to them... and it allows the user the ability to retrieve a lost password or change it. Along those lines, how reasonable izzit to attempt to use the Passport SDK as an authentication tool? I know most people shy away from Microsoft technology but if it provides out-of-the-box functionality...
