Perry & Franni, I got what you suggested to work (thanks) but as usual I
didn't explain myself properly (sorry)...

For example:
Say in PS I have a layer with a red cube. The cube sits perfectly on the
page, it has no surrounding colour (I think it's called isolated). But
when I try to copy & paste the same cube from PS to FW i get a white
surround on the image as opposed to it's initial state in PS. It's like
a gif - In PS it looks liek the gif has been imported with transparency
but when I try to copy & paste the same gif from PS to FW I get it in
the state it would be if no transparancey was applied. Hope I'm making
sense.?

thanks for your help with this - it's driving me mad!
