If that's what he was talking about, I had a very different image in my mind... It seemed as if he was talking about being able to leave an option in the select list blank and then type directly into the select, if desired. Which is not what you've got.
Well I don't think what he asked for is possible. This is the closest that I can think of.
However, I really like the whole DB interface on that app. Is it a
prefab solution? I'm looking for a script that allows
edit/update/delete functionality based on table definitions...

Anything to do with WonderDesk? I've worked with their software before and it didn't look or work anything like that... I just kept seeing links to the wonderdesk cgi.
The client wanted mods to Wonderdesk and then a database of their individual products linked to it so they can see a history of problems for any given piece of hardware. What your seeing is the hardware/customer database in PHP/MySQL with non-functional links to Wonderdesk.
Lastly, if you want some help getting that javaScript to play nice and make the field read only, give a shout :^)
