I like #2 *alot!* Can't even really say why - it just hit me better. I do think the ton of text in #1 had something to do w/my choice. I would never stop to read all of that I don't think. I also think if #1 has to be used that the main portion of the page needs to be brought up higher on the page. Looking again I think maybe one of the reasons I would not choose #1 is that there is the photo and also the illustration above it and for some reason the two kind of "clash" (to harsh a word but the general idea) to me.
